Malpe Beach

                    Malpe beach is only six km away from Udupi. From there by launch to St. Mary's Island in the heart of the rough Arabian Sea at a depth of seven km. The secluded Kapu beach is 10 km away from Udupi. All in all a smooth sea voyage.

                Malpe beach is at the top of the list of spectacular, unexplored beaches in India. It is situated 67 kilometers away from Mangalore and 6.5 kilometers away from Udupi in Karnataka. Among locals and foreigners alike, this scenic beach is famous. The pristine white sand, the nice weather, the tasty food shacks here and the many opportunities for water sports make Malpe Beach a perfect location for a quick escape. The free wifi services accessible all time-all day are the most recent extension to the beach by the authorities.

            There are four rugged islands on the vast coastline of this secret gemstone of Karnataka. Daria-Bahadurgad is the northern-most island, Daria-Gadara-Kallu is the middle one, and Kari-Illada-Kallu is the southernmost island. The fourth rocky island is the most popular and often visited one, St. Mary's Island. This beach is located at the mouth of the river Udyavara, which is a tiny river flowing around this beach and is usually referred to by locals as the Malpe River.

Kapu Beach

            Kaup (Kapu) beach is another magnificent and largely intact beach situated between Mangalore and the town of Udupi. There is a lighthouse here, built-in 1901, which is open from 5:30 AM every day for an hour. There are several lovely Airbnb's across the beach that makes for the ideal quiet getaway.

            St. Mary's Island, Karnataka, is the land where Vasco Da Gama set his first foot, a land whose geographical value is enormous and whose beauty is magnificent. St. Mary's Island with white sand beaches, stone circles (rocks), and fantastic wildlife just off the coast of Udupi, making it a breathtaking place to be. The size of the island is exactly like an inverted bowl.

St. Mary's Island

            St. Mary's Island, situated just 6.5 kilometers of the Karnataka coast in the Arabian Sea, is a geological wonder and hosting some of the country's most spectacular beaches. Coconut Island, North Island, South Island, and Daryabahadurgarh Island are a group of four separate islands.

            Kudlu Falls is also known as Sita Falls. It is popular for its picturesque beauty. From a height of 160 ft, the waterfall drops down the Western Ghats in the middle of a thick green canopy of the hilly landscape. To enter the enchanting waterfall, it takes a modest amount of trekking through the green zone. The attraction is, thus, a favorite of trekkers and lovers of nature.

How to Reach

            Udupi is well linked by rail (Udupi Junction) & road to the rest of India. Daily train and bus lines run to and from the town of Udupi; private and government owners operate buses. Direct flight connectivity from Udupi is not available. But the closest airport is Mangalore Airport, just 62 km away, which links Udupi to the rest of India. Besides, Udupi 403 km from Bangalore, Volvo bus takes about 9 hours.

Best Time to Visit

            Due to its unabated warmth during summers, the best time to visit Udupi is during the winters from October to March. Here, the winters are cool, while the temperatures in summers rise to 40 degrees. In Udupi, however, evenings are comparatively colder. Monsoon, on the other hand, is an ideal time to fly to Udupi and the surrounding places because, after the rains, the temple town has a lush green setting.
