Baniyakund and Makku Village :

            Baniyakund is a small hamlet from where the forest line to the hill station of Chopta starts. It is situated at the very start of the Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary, just 5 km before Chopta at an altitude of 2460mts and Ukhimath is the nearest local town. The village Baniyakund is situated in Ukhimath Tehsil in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India. It is 27 km away from Ukhimath and 69 km away from Rudraprayag.

            Makku village is situated in Ukhimath Tehsil, Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India. Makku village is located 34 km away from Ukhimath and 40 km far from Rudraprayag. Makku is a scenic village situated at an altitude of 2130 mts, a haven for bird lovers. Makku is home to rare Himalayan bird species and an excellent location for anyone looking for change to stay here from noisy town life.

            The picturesque hamlet is covered with dense green mountains filled with evergreen, tall oak, rhododendron & deodar trees, a serene atmosphere full of greenery and calm.


A Paradise Place for Bird Lovers :         

        With the onset of November, snowfall has started in the Himalayan region. And November means more than one and a half hundred species of birds migrate in groups in the villages of Baniakund and Makku in Uttarakhand. Golden Bush Robin, Himalayan Bulletel, Chasnet Tisia, Iskeli Bristed Rainbowler, Beau Fotted Red Starfish, Dark Better Roachfunch, Himalayan Green Finch, now Prachanda is actually in the Upper Himalayan region. The chirping of these birds can be heard in the forests here from morning till evening. Bird lovers, of course, as well as your mind will be charming.

             There are so many famous places to visit, like Ukhimath, Rishikesh, Chopta, Tungnath (trek), Dugalbitta, Chandrashila (trek), Deoria Tal etc.

Best time to Visit :

                During Summer, BaniyaKund welcomes everyone with its pleasant weather. The sky remains clear, the freshness of various colourful flowers and plants found all around makes more gorgeous and scenic sights this place. But in winter due to heavy snow-fall, Baniyakund remains cut-off between Jan-Feb.

Bus/Rent Car services :

            From Haridwar (Rly Station) to Rudraprayag, From Delhi to Rudraprayag/Chopta or Ukhimath, Dehradun Airport to Chopta (215km).

           Baniyakund located between Ukhimath and Gopeswar. Daily morning Bus services and rental cars are available from Ukhimath to Gopeswar.

Few Hotels and Base-camps are available here to stay.
