Maipokhari, Nepal :: The land of sleep-stealing

Drowsy eyes. Dreams. Can anyone ever steal the caress of amazement sleep? Don't be surprised. This can happen when you come to Maipokhari. It is a quiet, secluded village about 14 kilometers north of the city of Ilam in eastern Nepal. Birds will wake up in the morning. The fuzzy misty nature is breaking the paradigm then. The dreamy sky is looking for its blue color. The smoky mountains are rising high. Looking at each other from a distance, it looks like a shadow. Just wearing warm clothes in the morning for outside. Dewdrops on the grass on both sides of the dirt road have frozen. Lonely skinned yolks are chewing on the farms. There is a tingling sound in the red bell hanging around the neck. The green grass field in front is asleep as if covered with a sheet of white snow. The dew has been falling here all night. The hills on the east side cover themselves with deep forest cover to a certain height. As soon as the tree line ends, their peaks seem to be trying to touch the sky with shameless arrogance. Sun is constantly peeking from behind the mountain.

Mai Pokhari, Nepal's famed star-shaped lake, is a wetland in the Ilam district. It features nine corners, which are thought to be in honour of nine distinct Gods. It is a Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site, as well as a sacred location for the local population. The Mai Pokhari is home to a wide range of floral and faunal species, including the Orchids, Schima, Castanopsis, Laurel Oak (Quercus laurifolia), Cone trees, Rhododendron, Porcupine, Leopard Cat, Musk Deer, Jackle, White-rumped vulture, Eurasian otter, and endemic Thakthake and Variegated Mountain Lizard. Around the marsh, 300 different bird species also have been identified.

A few people live in Maipokhari. Small market at the very beginning of the village. The rest are homestays. Houses made of stone, wood. Red-white-blue flags are flying in every house. The form of the Himalayas can be enjoyed in the bends of the village. The land of clouds and fog in the mountains. Clouds within reach, as if to touch. As soon as night falls, the light shines in the small villages on the hill. However, after seven in the evening, they all went out.

Maipokhari Lake

Then must-see Maipokhari Lake. The counter is on the side of the entrance. Just entered with one hundred Nepali rupees in cash. After a short walk, a dirt road through the jungle. All around is quiet, the body is creepy. The light-dark wet damp path covered with large tree leaves. Colorful hill flowers spread on both sides. Something like a bunch of hair is hanging on the tree. After going to the front and discover a kind of fern there. There are orchids and mosses on the old trees. The eternal green path through the middle of the pine and zhou. If this path does not end, nothing will come of it. There is no fatigue in this way. An unnamed wildflower is falling on top of fatigue.

On the way to Dikshunyapur, keeping a close eye on the mountainous cosmos along the romantic path of the forest, one has to suddenly stop to see the magnificent lake nearby. Its water is dark blue. Just as the mind is mesmerized by the sight of that lake, so it is filled to the brim with beauty.

Maipokhari Lake is one of the holiest lakes in the Ilam district of Nepal. Places of pilgrimage for both Hindus and Buddhists. It's about 1 km long. An amazing water picture has emerged in the lake! The deep blue water of the lake. The sky is full of white torn clouds. The fog comes closer to the distant forest. The giant tree created strange dizziness in the mind. In the magic of blue-green magic constantly calling for understanding the nature lovers.

The surroundings of the lake are arranged like a rock garden. There is an orchid house also. There are trees collected from different regions of Nepal. If you are tired of walking along the half-shaded path, can sit by the lake, in the shade of a tree. This is the Himalayas. There is not only thrilling excitement, the mind is filled with calm soothing beauty. There are four ghats around the lake. Incense is burning in them. It is as if the devotees have come and touched the water of the lake and gone to worship. There is a temple on one side. Some birds are sitting in their attic discussing. This quiet and secluded place is perfect for meetings also!

Then back to the homestay. Sitting on the porch (verandah) of the homestay, the redness of the sunset forgets the filth of the mind. At twilight, a couple of lights came on in the village. The stars awoke in the mountains. The webs of thought are broken and the wings match in the world of dreams. At dawn, the redness of the sky melts the gap of the screen and steals the sleep, without asking for permission.
